Biography

I was born in 1991 in Catania, Italy. I’ve had the luck to do a bunch of unusual jobs, but right now I am enrolled in a Ph.D program in Complex System. Here, following the spirit of physicist Ettore Majorana, people study models developed in Statistical Mechanics to understand the micro- and macroscopic world.

I am applied into Computational Social Science and Information Science/Informatics of Systems. My aim is to develop and integrate information technology and statistical methods for evaluation and decision making in everything related to the public administration (Public Sector, Health, Law, Education, etc.).

  • I programmed my first Monte Carlo simulation at the age of 8, with paper & pen. If you want the full story, ask it to me. When I was a teen, my mates played rock songs, while I spent afternoons online surveying people about their favorite rock musicians. I concluded that Pete Townshend made the best rock music.

  • At 23 I co-founded a club of videogames. Right now that club is one of the biggest Electronic Sport Association in Italy. I’ve been Secretary of the Club until Christmas 2018. Across 2014-2017 I’ve been a live commentator for national competitions of the videogame League of Legends in a trio composed with Fabrizio Tornatore and Francesco Seminara. I was invited to a bunch of conventions as a guest opinionist on the topic of competitive videogames, too.

  • In 2016 I earned a Bachelor in Economics and at 2018 I graduated a Master in Social Research at University of Catania. Throught the University programs, I got two internship: one at a business consulting agency specialised in accounting, and another in a agency specialised in marketing for Ho.Re.Ca. sector. After graduation I spent more or less 9 months as a graduate research assistant to Professor Venera Tomaselli at Center of Excellence for the acceleration of Harm Reduction in Catania. This collaboration lead into a publication.

  • In mid-2019 I accepted a job as clerk with minor executive duties at Confindustria, the union of employers of Italy. While I was located in the Catania branch, I mostly worked on a program for assessment of digitalization in Sicily, but I also worked in organization of networking events integrated in the National Plan “4.0 Transition”. Here I developed a serious interest in industrial policies, but…

  • … in the end of 2019 I also qualified to be enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Complex Systems at the University of Catania. So in Q4 2020 I agreed to terminate the contract with Confindustria and I focused on research.

  • In 2021 I was granted the opportunity to remote participation at the Summer School Program from University of Syracuse. Here I met a lot of interesting people like Prof. Daniel Acuna, Prof. Jevin West, Prof. Stasa Milojevic and many other scholars.

  • Along the same year I participated in a grant of University of Melbourne in the RepliCATS Project - Phase II, as participant in four panels of experts.

  • Since September 2021 I am visiting the Center of Complex Network and Systems at Indiana University. It’s a great group, very well-organised as a Research Hub for people with a broad range of interest in Computational Social Science, Disinformation, and Scientometrics. I am mostly working within the NaN - Agent Networks research unit
